On the BFLB line a cycle that will not finish usually stops at the spin, because this platform is strict about balance and will retry rather than spin an uneven drum. Where the brand-generic page ranks drainage first, on the models listed in the table on this page balance moves up: the counterweight arrangement here is less forgiving of a single heavy item.
The symptoms, and their near misses
- The machine repeats the rinse over and over — Repeated rinsing is the suds signature and it is a dosing problem.
- The load comes out wet and the spin never ran — A balance condition: the machine has tried to distribute the load, failed, and skipped the high-speed spin. The BFLB line is no worse than its siblings here, but it is no better either.
- The drum thumps hard during the spin and the machine stops — Heavy knocking at spin-up is the machine protecting itself and its surroundings.
- The cycle stops with a full drum — Water still in the drum at the stop points squarely at the drain path.
- The cycle time jumps up by an hour or more — The control has extended the phase because a condition is marginal — usually fill rate or heating.
- NEAR MISS — the machine never started at all — No start is a different diagnosis from a stop.
- NEAR MISS — the programme really is that long — Eco and cotton programmes on modern machines run for hours by design. Check the rated time before diagnosing.
Causes in likelihood order
- A pressure system giving a false level — The one to check first. False level readings produce stops in both directions — overfilling and refusing to spin. On these models the panel comes away before anything else does.
- A door lock releasing mid-cycle — Second, and common. An intermittent lock drops out under vibration and the control pauses, waiting for a door it believes has opened.
- A slow or interrupted fill — Next after those two. Fill rate is checked as carefully as drain rate; low pressure produces exactly this symptom. This is where the BFLB line differs from the brand’s other lines.
- A control board or wiring fault — Fourth in the ranking. Last. It is diagnosed only when every condition the board is checking has been proven good.
- Excess detergent and suds — Uncommon here. Suds are the most under-diagnosed cause of a long or aborted cycle.
Working through it in order
- Check the taps and the inlet filters — A slow fill extends and then aborts a cycle, and a silted inlet filter is a common cause of it.
- Read the programme’s rated length before calling it stuck — Compare against the rated length rather than against your expectation. On the models listed in the table on this page the access for this is the same across the line.
- Run a rinse and spin on its own — A short programme tests the drain and spin path in a few minutes.
- Count the rinses — Watch a whole cycle and count; it is the clearest suds test there is.

Safety
Switch off the breaker or unplug the machine before a panel comes off, and give it a moment before reaching inside — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never start a cycle with a panel removed, and never interfere with the interlock that keeps the door shut during a spin.

When this becomes a service call
Stop and call if the machine trips its breaker during the heat phase. That combination points at the element and it should not be re-run in the meantime.
