The short version
When water appears in a Beko BFFD refrigerator, look at the drain before anything else. The defrost cycle produces meltwater every day by design, and the only thing standing between that and a wet compartment is a drain hole that a single plug of ice can close.
What you will notice
- Water pooling under the crisper drawers — Across the whole of this line, the classic blocked defrost drain: meltwater that cannot reach the drain backs up into the lowest part of the fresh-food compartment.
- A sheet of ice on the freezer floor — The freezer-side version of the same fault, where the drain opening has frozen and meltwater refreezes where it stands.
- Condensation runs down the inside of the door liner — Humid air entering past a tired gasket, which produces water without any drain fault at all. This applies to the whole line rather than to one model.

What is usually behind it
- A blocked defrost drain — First on the BFFD line by a wide margin. The drain is deliberately small to limit air movement, and a plug of ice or food debris at its entry backs the whole daily defrost load into the compartment. Every model in this family behaves this way.
- A door gasket that no longer seals — Second because warm humid air admitted continuously condenses inside the cabinet and overloads the drain even when the drain is clear. It also causes the frost that eventually blocks it. The models in the table behave the same way here.
- A leaking water supply line or its connection — The only part of the appliance under pressure at rest, which is why it is the cause when water appears behind a cabinet that has not been running.
- Overfilled or badly closed doors — A door held ajar by a bottle or an overfull shelf admits humid air all day, which produces condensate faster than the drain was designed to clear.
- A cracked drain trough moulded into the liner — Last because it is rare and because it needs the freezer rear panel off to see, and because every cheaper cause above it produces an identical puddle.
How to narrow it down
- Find where the water actually appears — First on the BFFD line because under the drawers, behind the cabinet and on the floor are three different faults, and the location separates them without any tool. That holds across every model this page covers.
- Clear the defrost drain opening — Second: it is at the base of the freezer rear wall or behind the crisper, and warm water plus a soft flexible line clears the usual plug in minutes.
- Check the door seal with a sheet of paper — Third, because a gasket that no longer grips loads the cabinet with humidity continuously and will refill the drain as fast as you clear it. It is the same on all the models in the table on this page.
- Inspect the supply line and its connection — Only relevant when the water is behind the cabinet, and a white mineral trail at a joint names the leak without any test.
- Look at the freezer floor for an ice sheet — It is the same fault seen from the other compartment and it confirms the drain diagnosis when the fresh-food side is ambiguous.
- Check for items holding a door ajar — A tall bottle in the door shelf or an overfull rack stops a door closing fully, and the humidity load that follows produces the water.

Power the appliance down at the breaker first; stored charge can remain after the supply is cut. The cabinet is heavy and top-loaded, so walk it out on its feet with a second person rather than dragging it over a wet floor.
