The short answer
An ice complaint on a Beko BBBF refrigerator starts with the model code: the codes in the table carrying IM are the ice-maker builds and take a water supply, and the plain codes have no ice maker at all. On an IM build the usual fault is a fill tube that has frozen shut; on a plain code an ice complaint is frost forming where it should not, which is a different page-length problem with a different fix.
What you observe
- A mound or column of ice beneath the ice maker fill point — The fill tube has frozen and each fill is overflowing before it reaches the mould.
- Hollow or undersized cubes — Slow filling: supply pressure, a partly closed shut-off valve, or a fill valve that no longer opens fully.
- No ice at all with the arm or paddle in the down position — Either no water is arriving, or the harvest mechanism has stopped.
- A sheet of frost on the freezer rear panel — Frost rather than ice-maker trouble, and the leading complaint on the plain codes.
- NEAR MISS - the ice melts and refreezes into a solid block — That is a temperature fault, and the cooling page covers it.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Frozen fill tube — First on any IM build in a bottom-freezer, because the tube runs through permanently sub-freezing space to reach the drawer.
- Slow or restricted water supply — Second, and the reason the tube froze: water arriving slowly sits in the tube long enough to freeze between fills.
- Drawer not sealing, feeding frost — Third, and the leading cause on plain codes: humid air admitted at the drawer face becomes the frost you are looking at.
- Failed fill valve or ice-maker module — Fourth. Both need the drawer emptied and a panel off, which is where most owners stop.
- Stalled defrost cycle — Last, and the explanation when frost keeps returning after every manual clearance.
Check in this order, and why
- Read your code for the IM suffix — First, because it decides whether an ice maker exists to fail.
- Look under the fill point for a column of ice — Second, on an IM build. It identifies a frozen fill tube on sight.
- Check the supply shut-off is fully open — Third. A partly closed valve produces hollow cubes and then a frozen tube, in that order.
- Check the drawer closes square against its gasket — Fourth, and first in practice on a plain code, because that is where the frost is coming from.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Shut the water supply off at the valve before disturbing any fill line. Never thaw a fill tube with a heat gun or an open flame, and never chip ice off the evaporator or the mould with a metal tool - the tubing behind the liner punctures easily.

When to call a technician
Call when the fill tube has been thawed and freezes again, because that points at supply pressure or a fill valve rather than at ice. Call also for a harvest mechanism that will not turn, and on a plain code when frost returns within weeks of a full manual defrost.
