Read this first
On the VD line the condensate tank is the first suspect and the control board is the last. A tank that has been emptied but not pushed fully home still reads full, and the machine refuses the cycle exactly as it would with a full one.
The observations that matter
- The panel lights but nothing happens on start — Within this line, the control has power and has accepted the selection, so the machine is waiting on a precondition it has not been given.
- A tank or container indicator is lit — The condensate tank reads full and the machine will not commit to a cycle until it is emptied and the float has reset.
- The door springs back when pushed shut — A latch that has not engaged, so the machine never sees a closed door however firmly the panel responds. Every model in this family behaves this way.
- The drum turns for a second and stops — A brief start that aborts is a precondition or a thermal state rather than a start fault, and it usually repeats identically.

The causes in likelihood order
- A full condensate tank — First on the VD line because the machine refuses a cycle outright when the float reads full, and because a tank emptied but not pushed fully home leaves the float reading full anyway. That is true of every model this family spans.
- The door not latching — Second because a garment caught in the seal or a slightly dropped door stops the catch engaging, while the panel stays lit because the display is upstream of the latch circuit. That holds across every model this page covers.
- No supply at the socket or a tripped breaker — Free to check and common where a laundry space shares a circuit, so an unrelated appliance may have tripped it.
- Child lock or control lock armed — A long press arms it and a wiped panel sets it by accident. The machine then acknowledges a press and refuses the cycle, which reads as a failed start button.
- A tripped thermal cut-out from an earlier overheat — Last because it follows a prior fault rather than standing alone: a machine run with a blocked air path can trip a cut-out that then refuses every subsequent start until it is reset by service.
The order to work in

- Close the door firmly and listen for the catch — Second: a garment trapped in the seal is the usual obstruction and it is invisible once the door is pushed against it.

- Cancel any delay and reselect the programme — A delay survives the door being opened, so cancelling and reselecting is the only reliable way to exclude it.

- Check the lint filter is seated — Some builds will not commit to a cycle with the filter out of position, and a filter replaced hurriedly after cleaning is easy to leave proud.

The service boundary
Call when the tank is seated, the door latches audibly, the socket is proven, no lock or delay is set and the machine is still silent. What remains is inside the front panel. This applies to the whole line rather than to one model.
