Poor cleaning on the DIT line is a chain and not a component: hot water in, a clean filter, spray arms that turn freely, and detergent that dissolves. These models feed both arms from one pump through the filter stack, so a restriction there degrades the wash long before it stops the drain. Work the chain in order.
What owners actually see
- Plates on one side are clean and the other side is not — Across the whole of this line, a blocked jet in one arm sector, or a load that shields one half of the machine from spray.
- Cleaning got worse gradually over months — A gradual decline is a filter or a scale problem; a sudden one is usually loading or a change of detergent.
- The same items come out dirty every time — A repeatable pattern is a flow shadow: something in that position is shielded from spray on every load. This applies to the whole line rather than to one model.
- Cutlery is clean and plates are not — The basket sits directly over a spray sector, so the pattern tells you which part of the arm is still working.
- A gritty deposit appears inside glasses — Debris recirculated from a full filter, which means the mesh is passing what it should be holding.

Ranked causes on this line
- A blocked or partly blocked filter stack — First on the DIT line because both spray arms are fed through it: a mesh that is three quarters full reduces flow to every jet at once, so the whole machine washes weakly rather than one part failing. Every model in this family behaves this way.
- Loading that shields the load from spray — Second and entirely free to fix. A tray across the lower rack, nested bowls, or a handle stopping the upper arm each remove a whole sector from the wash while the machine runs perfectly. The models in the table behave the same way here.
- Blocked spray arm jets — Seeds, labels and scale plug individual holes. The arm still turns, the machine still sounds right, and one band of the load comes out untouched.
- Detergent stored badly or past its usable life — Tablets absorb moisture and stop dissolving properly, which produces a machine that washes with plain hot water and no chemistry at all.
- A worn wash pump impeller or diverter fault — Last because it is uncommon and because it is indistinguishable from a restriction without dismantling: both produce weak spray from healthy-looking arms. Clear everything upstream before accepting this one.

- Load the machine, then spin both spray arms by hand — First because it is free and because an arm that strikes an item is the whole fault surprisingly often on the DIT line. That holds across every model this page covers.
- Unscrew and wash the filter stack — Second because both arms are fed through it, so it is the one component that degrades the entire wash at once rather than one sector.
- Hold each arm up to the light and check every jet — Third: a plugged hole is visible immediately and clears with a cocktail stick and a rinse, and it explains a band of dirty items with clean ones either side. It is the same on all the models in the table on this page.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Wear gloves when handling the filter stack: broken glass collects there, and it is the part of the machine most often cleared by hand.
