The answer first

Most likely causes first
- Debris packed into the filter stack — Broken glass, labels and seeds collect in the fine mesh first and the coarse basket second. On the DDN line the whole stack sits directly over the pump inlet, so a partial block starves the pump of flow before it stops it outright. It is the same on all the models in the table on this page.
- A kinked or trapped drain hose — For the models in the table on this page, the hose leaves these cabinets high and turns immediately, so pushing the machine back into a tight housing pinches it against the wall. It is the single most common cause that has nothing wrong with the appliance at all.
- Fragments from a broken item in the pump inlet — Common enough to deserve its own entry: glass and china shards pass the coarse basket, reach the impeller, and jam it without ever filling the mesh.
- A drain hose pushed too far into the waste spigot — An over-inserted hose restricts its own outlet, which produces a slow drain that looks exactly like a partial blockage inside the machine.
- A failed drain pump or its control — Genuinely last on this platform. The pump is a sealed motorised unit and every cheaper cause imitates it, so replacing it before the filter stack and the hose have been cleared is the most common wasted repair on these machines.
Where to start, and why

When to stop and call
Book service when the pump is audibly running into a full sump after the filter and hose are proven clear, or when the machine trips the household circuit while draining.
