The short answer
Standing water at the end of a cycle on the BDDIT line is almost always a blockage between the filter and the drain hose rather than a dead pump. These machines put the coarse filter, the fine mesh and the pump inlet in one stack under the lower spray arm, so one obstruction stops all three at once. Two of the three likely causes are reachable without a tool.
What you observe
- Water is standing in the sump when the cycle ends — On the models listed in the table on this page, enough to cover the filter plate and sometimes the bottom of the lower rack, and it does not fall away when the door is opened.
- The pump runs but the level never drops — You can hear the drain pump working at the end of the programme, and the note stays high and dry rather than settling as the sump empties.
- The load comes out with grit redeposited on it — Dirty water that never left the tub is pumped back over the load on the next fill, so plates come out coarser than they went in. The models in the table behave the same way here.
- NEAR MISS: the tub is dry but the load is wet and dirty — That is a wash or fill fault, not a drain fault, and it belongs on the cleaning-performance page for this family.
Causes, most likely first
- Debris packed into the filter stack — Broken glass, labels and seeds collect in the fine mesh first and the coarse basket second. On the BDDIT line the whole stack sits directly over the pump inlet, so a partial block starves the pump of flow before it stops it outright. That holds across every model this page covers.
- A kinked or trapped drain hose — Within this line, the hose leaves these cabinets high and turns immediately, so pushing the machine back into a tight housing pinches it against the wall. It is the single most common cause that has nothing wrong with the appliance at all.
- An obstruction in the pump impeller — A fruit stone, a bottle cap or a shard that passed the mesh jams the impeller. The pump then hums without moving water, which is the sound owners describe as the pump running normally.
- A blocked waste connection or standpipe — The machine drains into shared household waste, so a partly blocked sink trap or a plugged spigot on a disposer stops the appliance even though the appliance is fine.
- A failed drain pump or its control — Genuinely last on this platform. The pump is a sealed motorised unit and every cheaper cause imitates it, so replacing it before the filter stack and the hose have been cleared is the most common wasted repair on these machines.
Check in this order, and why
- Bail out the standing water first — A cup and a sponge, because every later check floods the floor otherwise and because the depth tells you whether the sump emptied partially or not at all. It is the same on all the models in the table on this page.
- Unscrew and clear the whole filter stack — Second, because it costs nothing and because on the BDDIT line it sits over the pump inlet, so it explains both a slow drain and a stopped one.
- Look into the pump inlet with a torch — Third, once the filter is out the inlet is visible from inside the tub, so the impeller is checked without moving the machine. This applies to the whole line rather than to one model.
Before you begin
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Assume the standing water is dirty and may hold broken glass: wear gloves for the filter stack and never sweep a hand blind around the sump.

When to call a technician
Call once the filter stack, the impeller inlet, the hose run and the household waste are all clear and the sump still holds water. That combination points at the pump or its control, and on the BDDIT line the pump is reached by laying the machine over, which is a two-person job with the water services disconnected. The same is true of each model covered here.
