What this usually means
Overfoaming is the cause people never suspect. Washing-up liquid in the dispenser, or too much detergent in soft water, produces foam that walks straight out past a perfectly good door seal. On the BD line specifically, the platform's layout is what decides which of those gets checked first.
What this looks like on a BD unit
- Foam escaping around the door during the cycle — Overfoaming rather than a seal failure, and the cause is in the dispenser rather than in the appliance. Read this one against the BD models listed below.
- Water only on one side of the machine — Useful: it points at a specific hose run rather than at the door, which leaks centrally.
- The leak appeared the week something else was fitted nearby — A waste connection or a supply tee disturbed during other work is a common origin.
- NEAR MISS: water standing inside the tub rather than on the floor — That is a drainage fault, and the drainage page covers it.
Ranked causes on the BD line
- A tired or dirty door gasket — Ranked first because it is both the most common and the easiest to confirm: grease and food residue on the seal stop it compressing, and the leak shows at the front centre of the door. This holds its place across the BD models listed below.
- A blocked drain path forcing water out of the weakest joint — The link people miss: standing water that cannot leave finds another way out, so a drainage fault presents as a leak.
- A failed door latch or hinge — The door no longer pulls square against the seal, so a perfectly good gasket leaks anyway. Usually accompanied by a door that feels different to close.
- A split tub or a failed pump seal — Last, because it is the least likely and the only one that is not owner-checkable. It is diagnosed once everything above is clean.

- Pull the machine out, dry everything and run a short cycle — Watching where the first drop appears is worth more than inspecting a puddle that has already travelled.
- Look for standing water in the tub before the cycle starts — A drainage fault forcing water out elsewhere is a real cause of a floor leak.
- Close the door and check it pulls square against the frame — A latch or hinge that has dropped puts a perfectly good gasket out of contact along one edge.
