The short answer
Water from a built-in Beko and Blomberg is usually blocked-drain meltwater appearing inside the cabinet, but on a plumbed unit the first thing to rule out is the water supply inside the joinery, because that is the one that damages the kitchen. Find out whether the water is inside the appliance or under the cabinetry before anything else.
What you observe
- A pool under the salad drawers — Meltwater that could not reach the drain at the back of the liner.
- Water at the plinth or under the neighbouring cabinet — Suspect the supply line or its fittings, not the defrost drain.
- Ice building at the back of the freezer floor — The drain has frozen, so meltwater backs up and freezes where it stands.
- NEAR MISS — water with a warm cabinet — Treat it as a cooling failure; the water is the melted evidence of it.
Causes, most likely first on this brand
- A blocked defrost drain — First in frequency: the drain hole at the base of the evaporator area collects debris and freezes, and meltwater then runs forward into the cabinet instead of down to the tray.
- A supply-line fitting inside the joinery — Second in frequency but first in consequence, and unique to a plumbed built-in. A compression fitting that was slightly under-tightened at installation weeps into a cabinet base where nothing is visible.
- A displaced drain hose or evaporation tray — Third: on a built-in these are reached only from the plinth, and they are easily knocked out of place while the unit is being pushed into its opening.
- A door seal letting humid air in — Fourth. It multiplies the meltwater the drain has to handle, so it turns a marginal drain into an overflowing one.
Check in this order, and why
- Decide whether the water is inside the liner or under the joinery — Those are two different faults with two different urgencies.
- If it is under the joinery, close the supply valve first — Stop the damage before diagnosing anything else.
- Check the drain hole at the base of the liner — It is the most common single cause of water inside the cabinet.
- Inspect the tray and drain hose from the plinth — Both are commonly displaced during installation.
What an owner can safely check
- Close the water shut-off valve if water is outside the appliance — Do this before any other step; it is the difference between a repair and a kitchen refit.
Tools: torchAbout 10 min
- Dry the liner floor and find the drain hole — Clear a view of the back wall before flushing anything.
Tools: clothAbout 15 min
- Flush the drain with warm water and a soft wire — Never force a stiff or sharp tool into it.

- Check the tray and drain hose behind the plinth — They should sit square with the hose directed into the tray.

- Clean the door gasket and confirm it seals — Less humid air in means less meltwater for the drain to carry.

Safety
Switch the appliance off at its breaker before flushing the drain or working behind the plinth — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and you will otherwise be handling water beside a live appliance. Never push a sharp probe into the drain hole; evaporator tubing runs behind that wall. A built-in with a custom door panel is front-heavy and must not be pulled out of its opening alone.
When to call a technician
Call as soon as you suspect the supply line, because a leak inside joinery is a damage problem rather than an appliance problem and it needs the unit drawn out. Call also when the drain runs clear, the tray and hose are seated, the gasket seals, and water still appears. Oily fluid rather than clear water at the plinth means the sealed system, and the unit should be switched off until it is inspected.

What this page does not cover
This page covers panel-ready Beko and Blomberg built-in refrigerators as a class rather than a single model. A family- or model-specific page carries what is deliberately absent here: drain and tray part identifiers, supply-fitting sizes, niche dimensions and gasket profiles. Where such a page exists for your unit it is linked below.
