What you observe
- The cycle stops with the drum full of water — A drainage fault. The machine will not proceed to the spin over standing water.
- It attempts to spin, slows, and tries again repeatedly — A balance retry loop, which ends in the machine abandoning the spin.
- An error indication or flashing light pattern — The machine has detected something specific, and that is the thing to act on first.
- It stopped after a power cut and has not been right since — A control that has latched into a state a reset will clear.
- NEAR MISS: the cycle completes but the machine is noisy — A noise fault, covered separately.
The ranking on a Bangson washing machine
- An unbalanced load the machine cannot spin — Ranked first. The machine tries to redistribute, fails, retries and abandons the spin, and the cycle never completes. A single heavy item is the usual culprit. Work down it in order on any Bangson washing machine.
- A heating fault on cycles that need heat — Distinctive because short cold cycles complete and long hot ones do not.

Disconnect power before inspecting anything, and get help before moving the machine: a washing machine is heavy and awkward, and the hoses behind it are exactly what gets damaged when one is dragged.
When to call a technician
Call when short cold cycles complete and long hot ones do not. That is a heating fault, it is tested with a meter, and it is not owner work.
