FITW models take this one slightly differently. Water at the front of the machine is almost always the door: a tired gasket, a latch that no longer pulls the door square, or detergent foam overflowing past the seal. Water that only appears under the kick panel is a hose or a pump seal. The departure from the generic page is in where the first check goes.
Signs and near misses on a FITW unit
- Water under the kick panel but a dry door — A hose clip, the pump seal or the sump, all of which live behind that panel. On the FITW line this is where the checking starts.
- The leak stops when the machine is levelled — A tilted tub overfills on one side and spills past the seal, which is a genuine and free fix.
- A puddle that appears only at the end of the cycle — That timing points at the drain phase, where the hose is pressurised for the first time.
- NEAR MISS: the machine will not start and the floor is dry — A start fault, covered separately.
Causes in likelihood order on the FITW line
- A tired or dirty door gasket — Ranked first because it is both the most common and the easiest to confirm: grease and food residue on the seal stop it compressing, and the leak shows at the front centre of the door. On the FITW models this stays at the top because nothing about the platform makes it less likely.
- A machine that is not level — A tub sitting out of level fills unevenly and spills past the seal at the low corner. Free to check and free to fix.
- A split tub or a failed pump seal — Last, because it is the least likely and the only one that is not owner-checkable. It is diagnosed once everything above is clean.
Where to start, and why
- Establish whether the water is clean or soapy — Clean water is the fill side; soapy water has been through the wash. One touch, and half the list goes. The FITW layout is the reason it comes first here.
- Run a finger around the door gasket — Grease, food residue and hardened rubber all show up immediately, and the seal is the most common cause.
- Look for standing water in the tub before the cycle starts — A drainage fault forcing water out elsewhere is a real cause of a floor leak.

Power off at the plug or the breaker first, then close the water supply. Standing water can still be hot after a cycle. The door interlock and its wiring stay exactly as built — the machine is designed around that behaviour.

When to call a technician
The owner side covers the door, the detergent, the feet and every clip you can reach. Call for anything behind the kick panel. Call immediately if the appliance trips a breaker, because water has already found something it should not have.
