ADBI models take this one slightly differently. If the load comes out wet as well as dirty, the fault is upstream of the wash: the machine is not getting or not heating the water it needs, and everything downstream of that looks like poor cleaning. What this looks like on a ADBI unit
- Food baked back on rather than left behind — Dirty water being reused, which is drainage rather than washing. This is the ADBI tell that separates the branches.
- Cloudy glasses that do not wipe clean — Etching, which is permanent and is caused by soft water and over-dosing rather than by a fault.
- Only the items at the edges of the rack are dirty — A loading pattern problem: the arms cannot reach what is shadowed by a large item.
- NEAR MISS: there is water on the kitchen floor — A leak is its own problem and is covered separately.
Ranked causes on the ADBI line
- A filter packed with food debris — Ranked first and it is not close. The filter is the one part of this appliance the owner is expected to clean, and it is the one part almost nobody does until the results go wrong. This holds its place across the ADBI models listed below.
- A blocked or partly blocked drain path — Dirty water that is not leaving is dirty water that gets reused, and food gets baked back onto the load.
- A failed circulation pump or wash motor — Last, and deliberately: it is the least common and the only one that is not owner work. It is diagnosed by elimination, not by guess.
Check in this order, and why
- Pull the filter out and look at it — It takes seconds, needs no tool on most machines, and it is the single highest-yield check on the whole list. The ADBI layout is the reason it comes first here.
- Run the kitchen tap hot before starting a cycle — If results improve, the machine was starting on a tubful of cold pipe water and the fix is free.
- Reload with deliberate space and run the same cycle again — A control test: if a half-full machine cleans perfectly, loading was the fault.

Switch the breaker off before opening anything. Stored charge outlives the switch. Hot water sits in the sump after a cycle even when the tub looks empty, so expect it when the filter comes out.
