Abnormal Noise or Vibration: the short answer
Nearly every noise complaint on a cold cabinet resolves to one of three moving parts or to the cabinet itself resonating against the floor or the furniture around it. Which one it is can be identified by when the noise happens, without opening anything.
What you are seeing
- a buzz or rattle that starts and stops with the compressor
- a rhythmic ticking or clicking from behind the cabinet
- a high whine or a grinding that rises and falls
- a gurgle or trickle a few minutes after the cabinet stops running
- a bang or a knock when the cabinet starts

Unplug the cabinet before you remove any panel or reach behind the toe grille. The sealed system is under pressure and is not an owner-serviceable circuit: never cut, kink, braze or vent a refrigerant line, and never apply heat anywhere near one. A loaded cabinet is heavy and tips forward easily when it is walked out on its front rollers, so empty it first and pull it straight out with a helper rather than levering it on one corner.
