The short answer for TLW models
An Avanti TLW washer that does nothing when you press start is far more often a supply or a door-latch problem than a control failure. These machines will not begin a cycle until the lid or door is proved shut, and they will not prove it with a worn latch, a swollen gasket or a hinge that has dropped.
What the owner sees
- The panel shows a code or a flashing pattern and refuses — Across the TLW line, a latched state is information: note the pattern before you cut the power and lose it.
- Nothing at all — no lights, no beep, no sound — Within the TLW family, dead panels mean the outlet, the plug, the cord or the breaker, in that order of likelihood.
- Nothing happens and the drum turns freely by hand — On TLW models, turning the drum by hand is the quickest way to separate the two families of cause.

- No supply at the outlet, the plug or the breaker — It leads because a dead panel can only mean supply, and a lamp in the same socket settles it in seconds.
- A motor or pump thermal cut-out that has opened — It ranks high because the fix is to wait, and because it explains a machine that worked an hour ago. It sits there for TLW models too.
- A child lock or a delay start left set — Ranked here because it is a five-second check on the panel that saves a call more often than anyone expects.

When to hand it over
Hand it over once you have proved the socket, cycled the power, cleared the locks and confirmed the door latches properly. Tell the technician whether the panel lights at all: that single fact halves the diagnosis, because a dead panel and a lit one lead to completely different circuits.
