The short answer for WCSE models
Water under an Avanti WCSE refrigerator is usually condensate that has lost its way out, not a burst pipe. The defrost drain blocks, the pan overflows or the water finds a path down the back wall instead of into the tray. Trace the water to its highest point before assuming anything is broken.
What owners describe
- Ice building up under the bottom drawer or on the freezer floor — On WCSE models in particular, melt water freezing where it stands is a drain that blocks and then freezes shut.
- Damp along the door edge with a dry floor — For the WCSE line, condensation on a cool surface rather than a leak, and on a humid day it means nothing.
- Water at the front, just inside the door — Looking at WCSE models specifically, front-edge water with a warm cabinet points at the seal rather than the drain.

- A blocked defrost drain — It leads because every cabinet makes defrost water daily, so the drain is the one part of the water path that is always working.
- A leaking ice-maker or dispenser fill line — Mid-list because it is less common than condensate, but it is the one cause that can flood a room, so it is checked early. The WCSE models in the table below are no exception.
- A spill inside the cabinet that was never the appliance at all — Ranked here because it costs nothing to rule out and because it explains water that appears once and never again.
- A perished or disconnected drain tube — It comes here because you have to get behind and under the machine to see it, which is past most owners. Nothing in the WCSE line changes that order.
Where to start, and what follows
- Find the highest point the water reaches — For WCSE models, water runs down, so the top of the wet trail is nearest the fault — that single observation names the cause.
- Check the cabinet is level, front to back especially — A spirit level on the top and a spanner on the feet is the whole job.
- Run the paper test round the door seal — Check the hinge side first: that is where a gasket takes a set and stops sealing.
- Look at the drain pan under the cabinet — A pan knocked out of position by a castor spills every defrost cycle.

Isolate the refrigerator at the plug or the breaker and close any water supply before touching a fitting; a capacitor can stay charged after the power is off. Clear a drain with warm water and time, never with a metal tool — the liner is thin and a puncture is not repairable. Leave every switch and sensor as fitted.

When this stops being an owner job
Call when the drain channel and tube are clear, the pan is seated, the seal passes a paper test, the unit is level and any supply connection is dry — and water still appears. What is left is the tube inside the insulation or a fill valve, and both mean the unit comes apart.
