The CF family in short
What the CF designation gathers is a set of Avanti freezer models sharing that stem, listed in the table on this page. The table is the profile; what follows it is the routing.
Symptoms on this family, and the page for each
- The compartment is drifting above its set temperature — Measure it in the middle of the load first; the cooling page for these models works through dust, seals, frost and loading in that order.
- A new buzz, rattle or grind from the cabinet — On this class the cabinet and the floor are as likely as the machine.
- Water on the floor or pooled inside the compartment — Defrost melt that has not reached its drain, almost every time.
The CF fault groups, commonest first
- Lost or drifting temperature — The most consequential group on this family, because the load is the expensive part.
- Cabinet, mount and fan noise — Second. On a freezer the cabinet itself and the floor under it cause more noise complaints than the refrigeration components do.
- Defrost melt escaping the drain path — Third, and almost always a blocked or frozen drain channel rather than anything under pressure — these models carry no mains water connection.
