What you are looking at
A misbehaving panel on an Arctic Wind dishwasher is usually one input misreporting rather than a failed control: a door switch that intermittently opens, a level sensor confused by foam, a supply that browns out. A completely dark panel is a supply question. Board replacement is the last resort and should follow measurement, never a symptom.

- Door switch intermittency — First, because it is a mechanical contact operated thousands of times and the control refuses to do anything without it.
- A sensor reporting out of range — Second: level, temperature and turbidity sensors all produce panel behaviour that looks like a control fault.
- Supply instability — Third. A machine sharing a circuit with a kettle and a microwave sees dips that a control does not like.
- Water in the base tray tripping flood protection — Fourth. A small leak locks the machine out entirely and the panel is how you find out.
- Control board failure — Last, and diagnosed by exclusion plus measurement rather than by symptom.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. The fascia carries mains within a hand's width of the door seal, which is the wettest line in the machine. Never hold the door switch closed with a tool to observe a running cycle; the interlock is what stops a hot tub opening, and no observation justifies bypassing it.
Where the owner fix ends
Call when the door latches properly, the drain runs, the base is dry, a full power cycle has been given and the panel still refuses, because measurement is now the only way forward. Call immediately if the machine trips the household circuit on power-up, since that is an earth fault rather than a control question. If a board has already been fitted once and the behaviour returned, say so when booking: a second board will behave exactly like the first.
