What you are looking at

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Dishwasher detergent and salt are both caustic in concentration: wear gloves when clearing a crusted dispenser or a spilled reservoir, and rinse spills off the tub floor rather than leaving them against the stainless steel. Watch for glass in the filter, which is where it always ends up.
The line for a service call
Call when the machine is clean, the consumables are right, the loading is careful and the plates still come out dirty, because the remaining questions are wash temperature and circulation pressure and both need measurement. Call sooner if the tub is cold at the end of a long programme, which moves this from a maintenance problem to a heating fault. A machine that has never washed well since the day it was fitted is usually an installation question about supply and drain height rather than a fault at all.
