In short
On the Arctic Wind ATLMG washer line, a cycle that will not complete is worth working through in a set order: programme selection, a child lock or a paused cycle first, then a restricted drain stretching or repeating steps, and only after those does the work that needs a meter or a teardown enter the picture. That order is written for a single-model line and sequenced for how these models are put together, which is where it departs from the brand-generic article.
What an owner actually sees
- The panel shows a delay, a hold or a locked symbol — A machine waiting on purpose looks exactly like one that has stopped.
- The cycle runs far longer than it used to and water is slow to leave — Time stretching without an error is nearly always drainage rather than control.
- NEAR MISS — the machine does nothing at all and the panel is dark — That is a no-power fault rather than a cycle fault; start at the socket.
Causes in the order they are worth suspecting on the ATLMG line
- Programme selection, a child lock or a paused cycle — Checked first here: long eco programmes, delay timers, rinse holds and child locks all produce a machine that appears to be doing nothing while behaving exactly as selected, and this is the cause that costs nothing at all to rule out.
- A restricted drain stretching or repeating steps — A restricted drain makes the machine repeat steps until the water leaves, which stretches the cycle without any obvious fault.
- Slow or partial fill from closed taps and blocked inlet screens — A slow fill stalls the cycle without any error at all, and both the tap and the inlet screen are owner-reachable.
- The door lock or lid switch is not confirming — The lock is the remaining mechanical explanation when the machine stalls at the very start of a programme.
- The control board, a sensor or the motor control — Last here, and the only cause on this list that is not owner work — a board that resets mid-cycle, a heater or level sensor reading wrongly, or a motor control cutting out is diagnosed with a meter on live terminals, which is where owner work ends.
What to check first, second and third
- Read the panel carefully and cancel the programme completely — Hold the cancel or power control long enough to clear it, then run a short cycle on an empty drum. Done first because it separates the likeliest causes before any tool is needed.
- Watch a drain step and time how long the water takes to go — Second: it confirms or dismisses what the first check suggested.
- Check both taps are fully open and listen for water entering — Third, once the two checks above are clean.
Before you start work
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Shut both taps before touching an inlet hose and have towels ready — the hose stays charged after the tap closes. Do not bypass a door interlock to make a cycle run.

Where owner work ends
Call at once if the machine trips the breaker or smells hot when it stalls, because that stops being a cycle question. Otherwise this is a normal appointment.
