The short answer
Before anything is opened on the Arctic Wind AGDG dryer, ask whether the behaviour changed with the cycle you select or with the load you put in. A timed cycle and an automatic cycle fail in completely different ways, and so do a small load and a packed one.
What you see on the AGDG line
- The cycle runs for hours and never finishes — Moisture is not leaving, so the load genuinely is not drying.
- The outside of the load is dry and the middle is wet — The drum is too full to tumble, which is a loading problem rather than a fault.
- Timed cycles work but automatic cycles do not — Close to conclusive: the heating is fine and the sensing is not.
- NEAR MISS - the machine will not begin a cycle at all — That is a start fault and its causes are different.

- Restricted lint screen, duct or outside vent — Most likely here: Moisture leaves with the air, so a restricted exhaust means the load stays damp however long the machine runs. The prefix on these models is the gas designation in this catalogue, with a companion line differing by a single letter; the ranking below assumes the gas heat train, and the other line ranks its own heat source first.
- Cycling thermostat or thermistor reading wrongly — Second: Both are read at the terminals with the machine isolated, which is where owner checks end.
- Timer or control board fault — Third: A control board that has taken a surge behaves inconsistently, accepting some cycles and cutting others short.
Check in this order, and why
- First - Clean the screen, inspect the whole duct and watch the outside flap while the machine runs — Weak or cool air outside with the machine going is conclusive and nothing else needs checking first. That is the order the roster on this page dictates, not a generic sequence.
- Second - Note whether the machine is warm at all during the long cycles — Running long and never getting properly warm points at the heat management rather than the sensors.
- Third - Note whether the cycle always fails at the same point — An identical stopping point every time points at the timer rather than at anything in the drum.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before reaching into the lint housing or removing any panel - a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. On a gas machine, close the appliance valve first, and if you ever smell gas, do not switch anything on or off: leave the building and call the gas utility or your local emergency number from outside. Never run a dryer with the exhaust disconnected indoors, and never fit flexible plastic or foil duct - lint and heat in a restricted duct are the fire risk this appliance carries.
