What this usually is
On the V models this complaint is most often an unbalance routine retrying the spin rather than anything deeper. This is a long production run with many variants, so the fleet in service is both large and old, and the wear items dominate the order. The order below is settled by how this line is built, not by what is true of the brand as a whole.
What the owner actually sees
- The drum fills, tumbles briefly, and tries again in a loop — The same twenty seconds repeating, which is a redistribution routine rather than a fault.
- The door will not release at the end — The machine has not reached a state it considers safe to unlock.
- Foam is standing above the water in the drum — Visible through the door, and it survives a drain attempt.
- NEAR MISS — the machine will not start at all — That is a start fault rather than a cycle fault, and it belongs on the page for this appliance that covers it.
What it usually turns out to be, in order on the V line

- Look through the door for foam standing above the water line — Foam that survives a drain attempt is what the machine is waiting on.
- Note whether the machine stalls with the drum obviously fuller or emptier than the step needs — A mismatch between what you can see and what the machine is doing points at what measures the level.
- Note whether the machine restarts from the beginning rather than stopping — A cycle that resets rather than hangs is a power question, not a machine one.

Where owner work stops
