The short answer
When a Allsing dryer starts leaving clothes linty, creased or smelling of the last load, the cause is usually airflow and loading rather than anything broken. On a dryer whose type decides the ranking: vented or condensing, gas or electric, the filter, the load size and the cycle choice account for most complaints of this kind.
What you are actually seeing
- Clothes come out covered in lint — The filter is loaded, glazed or bypassed, so lint recirculates instead of being caught.
- Heavy items are damp while light ones are over-dry — A sorting problem rather than a machine problem, and it is free to fix.
- Everything comes out heavily creased — Overloading, or leaving the load in after the cycle ends.
- Clothes smell musty after drying — Moisture that stayed in the machine, or a load left sitting in the washer beforehand.
- Results got worse over months rather than overnight — That gradient is the signature of lint accumulating in the duct.
- Not this fault: nothing dries at all — That is a heating or airflow failure, and it has its own page and its own first checks.
Causes, most likely first on this machine
- A loaded or glazed lint filter — First: softener residue forms a film that passes light and not air, and the filter then stops catching what it should.
- Overloading the drum — Second, and free: clothes that cannot tumble cannot present themselves to the airflow, so nothing dries evenly.
- Mixed loads of heavy and light items — Third: the light items finish first and then cook while the heavy ones catch up.
- A restricted duct or condenser path — Fourth: it lengthens cycles, keeps moisture in the cabinet and leaves everything feeling less than fresh.
- Residue on the drum or the sensor bars — Fifth: it marks clothes and it shortens automatic cycles, which compounds the complaint.
- A thermostat drifting, or a weak heat source — Last: real, but the least likely cause of results that declined gradually while the machine otherwise works.
Check in this order, and why
- Clean and wash the lint filter — Then hold it up to a tap: water should pass straight through. If it beads, the filter was the problem.
- Halve the load and repeat — The cheapest experiment on the page, and it frequently ends the complaint.
- Sort heavy from light and run them separately — It changes the finish on both, and costs nothing but a second cycle.
- Clear the duct or the condenser — Accumulation is the reason results declined gradually rather than suddenly.
- Wipe the drum and the sensor bars — Last of the free checks, and the one that fixes marked clothes.

- Wash the lint filter in warm soapy water — Scrub gently, rinse, and test that water passes through freely before it goes back in.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel or reaching into the filter housing — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never run the machine without its lint filter in place: lint then travels into the duct and the blower, where it becomes both a restriction and a fire risk. Keep the airflow path clear rather than extending cycle times to compensate for it. On a gas machine, if you smell gas, leave the building and call the gas utility or the emergency services from outside.
When to call a technician
Call when a clean filter, a clear duct and a sorted half load have all been tried and the finish is still poor, because what remains is a heat distribution or sensing question that needs a meter. Call sooner if clothes come out scorched or smelling burnt, or if the drum marks fabric — the first is a temperature control fault and the second usually means a worn seal or a rough edge inside the drum.
