The short answer
The tank leads the Airmsen fault list. Underfill it and the cycle runs without washing properly; overfill it and water ends up where it should not be; let the level sensor foul and the machine refuses to start at all. Drain routing is second, and the wash-quality complaints that follow are mostly consequences of the first two rather than faults of their own.
The problems that actually happen, by what you observe
- Will not start, or stops immediately with a warning — Tank level not detected, door not latched, or water already in the base pan.
- Cycle runs but dishes come out barely cleaned — Too little water in the tank to sustain a proper wash. The machine cannot tell you that directly.
- Water on the worktop around the machine — Overfilled tank or a drain hose that has slipped out of the sink.
- Dirty water returning to the tub — The drain hose end is submerged or hanging below the machine, so it siphons back.
- One section of the rack still dirty — A blocked jet on the single spray arm removes a whole sector of the wash.
- Trips protection or the outlet gets warm — The electrical class, which has its own page and usually starts with vented steam.
Problem classes in frequency order on this brand
- Tank level — under and over — First, and unique to tank-fed machines. Underfilling produces a cycle that runs to completion and washes badly, which is the most confusing failure a dishwasher can present. Overfilling puts water into the base pan and stops the machine. Both are operator-side and both are solved by filling to the mark.
- Drain hose position — Second. The hose has to discharge above the water line in the sink and below the machine's pump head. Get either wrong and you either siphon dirty water back or fail to drain at all.
- Spray arm and filter obstruction — Third. One arm covers the whole rack, so a single blocked jet takes out a sector rather than degrading the wash evenly, and the small filter loads quickly.
- Vented steam and placement — Fourth. The machine vents hot moist air at worktop height; aimed at cabinetry it damages the cabinet, and aimed near an outlet it becomes the electrical fault on the companion page.
- Pump, heater and control faults — Last. On a machine this simple genuine component failures are uncommon, and they get diagnosed correctly only after the tank and drain questions are settled.
Which of these an owner can fix
Filling to the mark, routing the drain hose properly, cleaning the filter and spray arm, and moving the machine so its vent discharges into open air are all owner work and cover most of what gets reported. Water in the base pan is owner-detectable, but the leak behind it usually means opening the cabinet. Call a technician when the machine will not run with a correctly filled tank and a dry base, when there is a burning smell, or when protection trips with nothing else on the circuit.

What this page does not cover
This page is generalized across Airmsen dishwasher families and model lines. Tank capacities, fill markings, spray-arm fitment and vent positions differ by family and belong on the family page where one exists — that page supersedes this one for your machine.
