Water overflow

Water overflow can cause significant property damage. If water is actively overflowing, shut off the wall valves immediately. Inspect for water damage to flooring, subflooring, and any rooms below the laundry area.
Immediately turn off the water supply valves behind the washer to stop incoming water. Unplug the machine
Check the water level inside the drum — if water is above the door seal on a front-loader, you need to drain via the emergency drain hose (small cap at the bottom-front filter access panel)
Inspect the water inlet valves at the back of the machine. Turn the supply back on briefly and watch the valves — if water flows in with the machine unplugged, the valve is stuck open and must be replaced
If valves are not stuck, the pressure switch (water level sensor) may be misreading. Locate the pressure switch hose — a small rubber tube from the tub to the switch on the control board area — and blow gently through it. It should be clear with no water inside
A kinked or cracked pressure switch hose can cause false level readings. Replace the hose if damaged
Pro Diagnostic Tip
A stuck-open water inlet valve is a flood risk. If you diagnose OE, always recommend the customer install flood-stop valves (auto-shutoff hoses) as a $30 insurance against future valve failures.
