Answer first
On a Wizard by Crosley refrigerator, leaking water usually comes down to blocked or frozen defrost drain, with an ice maker overfilling or its fill tube frosted next. Work out where the water appears first, because that single observation removes half the list before you touch anything.
What you actually observe
- Ice building on the freezer floor under the ice maker — A cabinet with a plumbed ice maker gives you this extra place to look.

- Blocked or frozen defrost drain — First on this platform. An automatic defrost system sheds meltwater on a schedule, and a plugged trough turns that schedule into a slow flood over the freezer floor.
- An ice maker overfilling or its fill tube frosted — Second, because the freezer carries an ice maker: an overfill or a frosted fill tube leaves ice on the floor of the compartment that melts out through the door seal.
- The supply line, its fitting or the inlet valve — Third. The cabinet is plumbed, and the supply fitting behind it weeps long before it fails.
- The water filter head or a badly seated cartridge — Fourth, and the quickest of the four to rule out: a cartridge that is not locked home leaks a thin stream that reaches the floor unseen.
Check in this order, and why that order
- Empty the freezer floor and look for a sheet of ice over the drain trough — Ice at the back of the freezer floor confirms the drain before anything is taken apart. It goes first: top-ranked above, and free to rule out.
- Look at the freezer floor under the ice maker for a sheet of ice — Ice that has built up outside the mould means water is missing it on every fill. Second: the next cause in the ranking, and this check separates it from the first.
- Look at the supply fitting and the valve at the back of the cabinet — A weep here puts water at the back wall, which is a different puddle from the one a drain makes. Third, once both checks above come back clean.
What an owner can safely check
- Clear the freezer, shut the door and let the cabinet stand unpowered until the ice is gone — No tools beyond towels. If the leak stops for a week afterwards and then returns, the drain is the fault and it needs clearing properly.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Leave the door switch wired as it is and do not defeat it to watch something run. If you find oil outside the tubing, stop: the sealed system is open, and refrigerant work is licensed work.
Where an owner check ends
Call once the drain, the seal and the pan are all clear and water is still arriving, because what is left is behind a panel. Call straight away if water is reaching the compressor compartment or the unit trips a breaker, and stop using it until it has been looked at.
