Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the refrigerator or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. After any warm period judge the food by temperature: a refrigerator holds food safely at 40 °F (4 °C) or below and a freezer at 0 °F (-18 °C) or below. Never chip ice from an evaporator or a drain with a blade. A refrigerator is a heavy appliance - walk it out slowly with a second person.
When this becomes a service call
An ice sheet keeps returning on the freezer floor. The cabinet has not pulled down a full day after a power cut. Cooling is still poor with the doors, seals, vents and clearance all confirmed good. The failure began the day a repair finished - it belongs back with whoever did it.
