- Look at the freezer rear panel for a sheet of frost — This separates an airflow fault from a cooling fault before any tool comes out.
- Open the freezer and listen for the fan, then press the door switch in by hand — If the fan does not start when the switch is held in, you have found it.
- Feel whether the condenser coil is warm along its length — Only worth doing once everything above is clean, and only a technician can act on it.

Leave the door switches exactly as they are: they cut the fan on purpose. Nothing on the sealed system is owner work, because refrigerant is licensed work.
