The answer first
A leaking dishwasher is losing water at the door, at a hose connection or at the sump, and those three are found in completely different ways. On this machine the first suspect is fill or drain hose connection weeping.
What you observe
- Water at the front, below the door — The door seal, the door itself, or spray reaching the vent.
- Water at one front corner only — Points at the cabinet being out of level or a door out of square.
- Water under the middle of the machine — A hose connection or the sump, and it needs the machine pulled out.
- NEAR MISS — the leak is at the tap or the shut-off valve above the machine — That is plumbing rather than appliance, and the supply valve is where to start.
Causes, most likely first on a Silonn dishwasher
- Fill or drain hose connection weeping — A drain hose clip that has slipped leaks only during the drain phase, which makes it hard to catch. Ranked first on a Silonn dishwasher: connections are disturbed whenever the machine is moved, and they are the commonest post-installation leak.
- Door gasket hardened, displaced or dirty — Food debris pressed into the seal holds the door open by a fraction, which is enough.
- Machine not level, or the door out of square — Out of level, the door also closes unevenly, so the seal is compressed on one side and open on the other.
- Too much detergent, or the wrong kind — Foam also defeats the pump, so a suds leak often arrives with a drainage complaint.
Check in this order, and why
- Dry every connection behind the machine, then run a cycle and look again — Watch the drain phase specifically: some joints only leak then.
- Run a finger round the gasket and look for hard, flattened or displaced sections — Check the bottom corners: that is where gaskets fail first.
- Put a level across the door opening and along the tub floor — Check the door gap is even down both sides when closed.
What an owner can safely check
- Shut the supply valve, dry the fill and drain connections completely, then run a short cycle and inspect with a torch — Note whether the water appears during fill or during drain — that alone identifies which hose is at fault.

- Wipe the door gasket and the tub lip clean, then press the gasket back into its channel all the way round — A gasket that is clean, seated and still springy seals; one that stays flattened when pressed is finished.

- STOP HERE if the next step needs a panel off or a meter on live terminals — That is where the owner checks end and a service call begins, whatever the ranking says.
Before you open anything
Safety
Isolate the machine at its breaker or switch before opening the sump; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and sump water hides broken glass. Use a glove and a torch. Shut the supply valve before touching a hose connection. Never put weight on an open door — the hinges carry the door and the rack, and the cabinet is anchored to resist exactly that.
When to call a technician
Call once the door seal, the detergent, the levelling and the visible connections are all sound and water still arrives, because what is left is under the tub. Shut the supply valve and stop using the machine in the meantime — a slow leak under a cabinet does expensive damage. Support runs through the seller rather than a service network: check the warranty route first, because a compact unit is often replaced under it faster than it can be repaired.
