In short
A leaking dishwasher is losing water at the door, at a hose connection or at the sump, and those three are found in completely different ways. On this machine the first suspect is too much detergent, or the wrong kind.
What you observe
- Water at the front, below the door — The door seal, the door itself, or spray reaching the vent.
- Water at one front corner only — Points at the cabinet being out of level or a door out of square.
- Water under the middle of the machine — A hose connection or the sump, and it needs the machine pulled out.
- NEAR MISS — water stands inside the tub and never reaches the floor — That is a drainage failure, not a leak, and it has its own page.
Causes, most likely first on a Signature Kitchen Suite (SKS) dishwasher
- Too much detergent, or the wrong kind — Washing-up liquid in a dishwasher produces foam that walks straight out under the door. Ranked first on a Signature Kitchen Suite (SKS) dishwasher: it is free to exclude and it explains foam rather than water on the floor.
- Door gasket hardened, displaced or dirty — Food debris pressed into the seal holds the door open by a fraction, which is enough.
- Spray hitting the door vent, or a tall item deflecting water — This leaks only on some loads, which is why it looks intermittent and mysterious.
- Fill or drain hose connection weeping — Push-fit and clipped connections behind the machine loosen over time and weep rather than burst.
Check in this order, and why
- Look at whether it is foam or clear water on the floor — Ask what went in: washing-up liquid produces this every time.
- Run a finger round the gasket and look for hard, flattened or displaced sections — Check the bottom corners: that is where gaskets fail first.
- Note whether the leak happens on every load or only on some — Look for a tall item standing near the door.
What an owner can safely check
- Run a rinse cycle with no detergent, adding a spoon of oil or salt to the tub to break the foam — Repeat until the foam is gone, then use only dishwasher detergent at the dose on the packet.
Tools: cooking oil or saltAbout 25 min
- Wipe the door gasket and the tub lip clean, then press the gasket back into its channel all the way round — A gasket that is clean, seated and still springy seals; one that stays flattened when pressed is finished.
Tools: warm soapy water, clothAbout 15 min
- STOP HERE if the next step needs a panel off or a meter on live terminals — That is where the owner checks end and a service call begins, whatever the ranking says.

Safety
Switch the dishwasher off at its breaker or its isolation switch before reaching into the sump — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and there is broken glass in more sumps than not. Wear a glove and use a torch rather than feeling around blind. Close the water supply valve before disturbing any hose. Do not lean on an open door: the hinge springs carry the weight of the door and a loaded rack, and a dishwasher is anchored to the worktop for that reason.
When to call a technician
Owner work here is the seal, the load, the levelling and the connections you can see. The sump, the heater seal and the pump seal are behind the machine and under the tub. Leave the supply valve shut until it is fixed. Book the authorised service channel for anything behind a panel; on this line the diagnostic mode is the fastest route to the cause and it is not a customer-facing tool.

What this page does not cover
This page covers the Signature Kitchen Suite (SKS) dishwasher as a class, not one family or model line. Where a family- or model-specific page exists for your unit it is linked above and it is the better answer — read it first. Deliberately not here: part numbers, wiring colours, panel removal order and torque figures, all of which differ between families under one nameplate.
