The answer first
A dishwasher that has stopped cleaning has usually lost water movement, not power. On this machine the first suspect is incoming water not hot enough.
What you observe
- Gritty deposits on the dishes after a full cycle — Debris is being recirculated, which points at the filter or the sump.
- A cloudy white film on glassware — Hard-water scale or too little rinse aid rather than dirt.
- Food baked onto the upper rack only — The upper spray arm is not getting water or is not turning.
- NEAR MISS — the machine will not run a cycle at all — Then this is the wrong page; start with the wont-start ranking.
Causes, most likely first on a Signature Kitchen Suite dishwasher
- Incoming water not hot enough — Cold water will not dissolve detergent properly, so the cycle begins with the chemistry already lost. Ranked first on a Signature Kitchen Suite dishwasher: temperature drives the whole chemistry, and a machine given cold water cannot wash however healthy it is.
- Filter clogged — The filter catches what comes off the dishes, and once it is full the machine recirculates that debris.
- Loading, overlap and shadowing — Items that nest or overlap shield each other from the water, which produces dirty patches in a clean machine.
- Spray arms blocked or not turning — The arms do the actual washing; blocked jets leave whole sections of the rack untouched.
Check in this order, and why
- Run the kitchen tap hot before starting a cycle and see whether the result changes — Time how long the tap takes to run hot: a long run is the cause.
- Lift the filter out of the sump and look at it — A visible mat of debris is both the diagnosis and the job.
- Look at where the dirt is: one area, or everywhere? — Dirt in one zone is a loading or an arm problem, not a machine fault.
What an owner can safely check
- Run the kitchen hot tap until it is properly hot, then start the cycle immediately — It fills the machine with hot water from the first moment rather than the last, and the difference is usually visible.
About 10 min
- Twist the filter assembly out, rinse both parts under a hot tap with a brush, and refit it until it locks — A filter left unlocked lets debris straight into the pump, so check it seats and turns home.
Tools: washing-up brush, gloveAbout 15 min
- STOP HERE if the next step needs a panel off or a meter on live terminals — That is where the owner checks end and a service call begins, whatever the ranking says.
Before you open anything
Safety
Power off at the breaker or isolation switch before any hand goes into the sump, and give a capacitor time to bleed down. Assume there is glass in the water: glove and torch, never bare hands. The water supply valve gets closed before a hose is loosened. Keep weight off the open door, and let the machine cool before reaching in after a hot cycle — the water and the heater both stay hot for a while.
When to call a technician
Everything in the tub is owner work: filter, arms, dispenser, loading and rinse aid. The wash pump, the inlet valve and the heating element are not, and a machine that fills short after all of the above needs a technician. Use an installer or technician authorised for the line: panelled and integrated machines can be damaged by the removal itself, and the trim and hinge hardware is specific to the family.

What this page does not cover
This is the generalised Signature Kitchen Suite dishwasher page. A family- or model-specific page, where one exists, is linked above and is the more precise answer for your unit. Left out on purpose: part numbers, connector colours, the order panels come off in, and every torque figure — a generalised page cannot be right about any of them.
