Test, then replace#
Reach the NTC probe in the water path near the heater, unplug its two-wire connector, and measure resistance: at room temperature a Miele NTC reads roughly 5,000 to 15,000 ohms depending on model, and infinite, zero, or wildly off means it failed. The safety thermostat, mounted on the heater housing, should read closed (near zero ohms) on continuity; open means it tripped. That multimeter step is what separates an NTC fault from a heater fault from a tripped safety thermostat — three different repairs that all present as "not heating."
To replace either: disconnect power, remove the lower front or rear panel, release the probe or thermostat clip, transfer the two wires to the new part, and reassemble. Required tools are a Torx Plus T20 driver and a multimeter. Because the labor overlaps, replacing both while you are in there is reasonable, and both are among the least expensive Miele washer parts.
