The short answer
On an LG washer, the first thing to check is a worn drum bearing. A washer makes different noises at wash and at spin, and which half of the cycle the noise belongs to narrows the cause immediately. Causes, most likely first on LG
- A worn drum bearing — A failing bearing roars and rises in pitch as the spin accelerates. Ranked first because it is the part that carries the drum at full spin speed, and it is the noise that gets worse rather than better. On LG, there is no belt and no brush gear - the drum is bolted to the motor rotor - so a rotational noise points at the bearing or the rotor itself.

Switch the machine off at the breaker before opening any panel or reaching into the pump filter - a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Expect water when you open a pump filter, and lay towels first. A washer is extremely heavy with water in it: never tip or move a loaded machine, and get help even when it is empty.
When to call a technician
Call once the load, the levelling and the pump filter are eliminated and the noise rises with the spin, because a bearing or a suspension job means opening the machine and is not a first repair. Call sooner if the noise arrived with water under the machine, since a bearing that has failed often takes its seal with it.
