The short answer
On an LG microwave, food that heats but takes far too long most often comes down to a power level or mode set low. LG microwaves with inverter power supplies have no heavy transformer, so the classic transformer-and-capacitor reasoning does not apply to them. The first check below needs no tools, and the list stops where a meter on live terminals begins.
What you observe
- The turntable turns and the light works, but food stays cold — Everything except the high-voltage side is working.
- It heats weakly and takes far longer than it used to — Partial output, which is a different fault from none at all.
- A loud buzz or hum while it runs — The high-voltage side under strain.
- NEAR MISS — it will not run at all — That is a no-start fault and a different page.
Causes, most likely first on a LG microwave
- Power level or mode set low — Ranked first here: the sensor and auto modes here decide their own time and power, so a sensor reading badly ends a cycle with cold food and no error at all.
- Weak or shared electrical supply — Ranked second: a microwave on an overloaded or extended circuit heats weakly without anything being broken.
