The short answer
FC E7 means the appliance could not connect to your router. The documented entry says only that the connection did not happen, which keeps the search on the network side first. Nothing about cooking is affected; this is the connected-features side of the oven. What follows is ordered so that nothing you can do for free is left until after a visit has been paid for.

| FC E7 | The appliance did not connect to your router. |
What you observe, and what to record
- The appliance shows as offline in the app — The app and the code are reporting the same thing from two directions.
- Whether anything else about the appliance changed first — A noise, a smell, a slower cycle or a poorer result in the weeks before the code usually dates the fault better than the code does.
- Whether anything on the same circuit misbehaves — Lights that dim, a breaker that has tripped before, or another appliance acting up all move the search away from this one.
Causes, most likely first on this oven
- Signal strength at the appliance — First: an appliance sits in a metal cabinet, often behind a metal door, low down and far from the router. That is close to the worst case for a domestic wireless signal.
- A router that did not answer in time — Second: a connection time-out is a documented cause, and a busy or rebooting router produces it without anything being wrong at the appliance.
- Router settings the appliance cannot use — Third: a hidden network, a band the appliance does not support, or portal-style guest isolation each block the join silently.
Check in this order, and why
- Stand at the appliance with a phone and check the signal — The phone is a fair proxy for what the appliance sees, and it costs nothing.
- Ask what changed on the network — A new router or a new password explains most of these codes in one sentence.
- Restart the router before touching the appliance — It is the cheaper end of the connection and the more likely author.
What an owner can safely check
- Restart the router and wait for it to settle — Give it a couple of minutes before retrying. Most time-out codes clear here.
About 10 min
- Stop using the ${A} if anything smells hot or looks scorched — Discolouring at a connection or a plug is heat, and heat at a connection does not improve on its own.
About 5 min
- Retry the connection from the appliance — Once the router is back up and the network is visible on a phone.
About 10 min
- Copy the full model number from the rating plate — Brand code indexes are shared across model lines, and the model number is what lets the code be read against the right one.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A wall oven or range is heavy and weighted towards the front: never let the open door carry the weight of the unit, and do not move one out of its housing without a second pair of hands.
When to call a technician
Call once the network is demonstrably healthy — good signal at the appliance, other devices connected, router restarted — and the code still stands. That combination is what points at the module rather than the network, and it is worth establishing before anybody is paid to look. If the appliance is under warranty, go to the manufacturer first — independent work can end the cover.

What this page does not cover
This page reads FC E7 for KitchenAid ovens in general, from the manufacturer's shared code index. A code can be documented differently for one family, so where a model-line page exists for your unit it is the more specific answer and is linked below. Not here: wiring colours, connector positions and part numbers, which differ by family.
