The short answer
F58 names the cooktop power control board or the wiring to it — the board that switches mains current into the induction coils. The panel usually behaves perfectly, which is what distinguishes this from a touch code: what you ask for is understood and not delivered.

| F58 | There may be a problem with the Cooktop Power Control Board, or the associated wiring. |
What you observe, and what to record
- The panel responds and zones do not heat — Understood, not delivered. The signature of a power-side fault.
- Whether the kitchen was unusually warm or humid — Marginal connections and temperature protections both behave differently in a hot room, and a fault that only appears in summer is telling you that.
- Whether the code clears when power is removed — Cut the supply for a minute and watch. A code that clears and stays away behaves completely differently from one that returns within a cycle, and nobody but you can observe the difference.
Causes, most likely first on this cooktop
- A power connector or terminal that has failed under load — First: these carry the largest currents in the appliance, and a joint that has relaxed heats, discolours and eventually opens. It is cheap to fix and common to find.
- A failed switching device on the board — Second: the devices that chop current into the coils are the hardest-worked components in the cooktop and they take out one zone at a time.
- A coil or its wiring faulting and being reported — Third: a shorted coil makes a healthy board report exactly this, and the board gets replaced for nothing.
Check in this order, and why
- Map every zone at low and high power — A per-zone pattern is what separates a device from a board.
- Confirm the panel itself responds normally — It usually does, and establishing that removes the whole touch side.
- Note anything that heats without being asked — The one finding that changes the urgency completely.
What an owner can safely check
- Test every zone with the same pan at two power levels — Write it down. The map is the diagnosis.
Tools: pan of waterAbout 25 min
- Note which functions still work and which do not — Go through them deliberately rather than from memory. The list of what works is the fastest diagnostic information there is.
About 15 min
- Check whether the appliance is still in warranty — Worth two minutes before anyone is paid: the purchase date and the model number decide it, and some components carry longer cover than the appliance.
About 10 min
- STOP HERE — the power board is under the glass — Reached from below and carrying mains current to every coil.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. An induction surface leaves the pan hot even where the glass beneath reads cool, so treat the cooking area as hot until you have checked it, and keep the residual-heat indication in view while you work.
When to call a technician
Call promptly, and immediately if a zone heats when it has not been asked to — switch the circuit off at the breaker and leave it off in that case. Otherwise, call with your zone map: which zones work, at which power levels, is the fastest way to tell a connector from a device from a board.

What this page does not cover
This page reads F58 for Jenn-Air cooktops in general, from the manufacturer's shared code index. A code can be documented differently for one family, so where a model-line page exists for your unit it is the more specific answer and is linked below. Not here: wiring colours, connector positions and part numbers, which differ by family.
