The short answer
E_03 means something is pressing on the control panel: the documented remedy is to remove anything left on the control area and wipe debris from the panel surface. The cooktop reads a permanent press, cannot tell it from a finger, and stops rather than acting on it.

| E_03 | Remove any objects left on the control area, and/or wipe any debris from the control panel surface. An object, liquids, or soils are putting pressure on the control panel and causing this error. |
What you observe, and what to record
- The code appears with nothing obviously touching the panel — A thin film of liquid is enough, and it is not easy to see against dark glass.
- Whether the ${A} still does everything else it should — What still works narrows the search as effectively as what does not, and it is the question a technician asks first.
- Whether the kitchen was unusually warm or humid — Marginal connections and temperature protections both behave differently in a hot room, and a fault that only appears in summer is telling you that.
Causes, most likely first on this cooktop
- Liquid on the panel — First: a boil-over or a wet cloth across the controls is the commonest cause by a wide margin, and water reads as a finger to a capacitive panel.
- An object resting on the control area — Second: a lid, a utensil or a phone left on the glass holds keys indefinitely and looks entirely innocent.
- Dried soil or grease over the keys — Third: a film that built up gradually, which is why the fault can appear with nothing visibly on the panel at all.
Check in this order, and why
- Look along the glass at a low angle — A film shows as a dull patch from the side and is invisible from above.
- Clear everything from the panel area and wipe it dry — The documented remedy, and the whole diagnosis if it works.
- Note whether it returns as soon as cooking produces steam — Steam condensing on the panel is a recurring version of the same cause.
What an owner can safely check
- Remove everything from the control area — Cloths, lids, utensils, packaging. Everything, not just what looks likely.
About 5 min
- Keep a short log of when the code appears — Date, what the cooktop was doing, and how long it had been running. Two entries make a pattern; one does not.
About 5 min
- Wipe the panel with a barely damp cloth, then dry it fully — Dry matters as much as clean — a damp panel behaves exactly like a pressed one.
Tools: microfibre clothAbout 10 min
- Clear the area around the ${A} before anyone visits — Access is charged for like anything else, and a technician who cannot reach the back of the appliance cannot test it.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. An induction surface leaves the pan hot even where the glass beneath reads cool, so treat the cooking area as hot until you have checked it, and keep the residual-heat indication in view while you work.
When to call a technician
Call once the panel is demonstrably clean, dry and clear, the power has been cycled, and the code still appears. That points at a key or the touch module rather than contamination. Everything short of that is a cloth-and-patience problem and does not need anybody paid.

What this page does not cover
This page reads E_03 for Jenn-Air cooktops in general, from the manufacturer's shared code index. A code can be documented differently for one family, so where a model-line page exists for your unit it is the more specific answer and is linked below. Not here: wiring colours, connector positions and part numbers, which differ by family.
