The short answer
Most of the time on a EverChill refrigerator this comes down to one of two findings: the freezer compartment is not cold enough to freeze a full mould, or the water supply, shut-off arm or dispenser lock is not letting water in. An ice fault is a water problem, a temperature problem or a harvest problem, and telling those three apart takes minutes and decides everything that follows.
What you are looking at
- Ice with an off taste or a cloudy look — A stale bin, an old filter or a long-standing water line rather than a mechanical fault.
- It cools on shore power and struggles on battery, or after a day of travel — The supply and the vibration are unique to an RV installation and they produce faults a domestic cabinet never sees.
- NEAR MISS — no ice and the whole cabinet is warm — Then the ice maker is a bystander; the cooling failure page is the right page.
The ranking that matters

Check in this order, and why
- First: Check whether existing ice in the bin is solid or slightly soft, and whether frozen food has any give in it. — It sits first because the rear vent stack is the whole cooling path on an RV install, and it collects dust, nests and stored gear.
- Second: Look at the shut-off arm or switch first, then follow the water line back to its valve and look for kinks behind the cabinet. — Next, and it needs no tool.
- Third: Empty the bin completely and look at the chute and the sweep for a bridge of ice. — Only once the checks above are clean.

- Check the coach supply and the vent stack before anything inside the cabinet — Battery voltage under load, the inverter, the DC connections and the rear vent path account for most RV refrigeration complaints, and all four are checked without opening the cabinet.

Read this before starting
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel or the ice maker module — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Shut the water supply off before disturbing any line or filter housing, and never use a knife or a screwdriver to chip ice out of a mould or a chute: the heater and the sensor sit directly underneath it.
Where the owner work ends
Call a technician when the mould stays dry with a proven water supply, when the harvest stalls every cycle, or when production is slow because the freezer itself is running warm — the last of those is a cooling fault that happens to show up in the ice bin first. Call immediately if you find water dripping inside the cabinet or pooling under it, because a leaking inlet valve does not get better on its own.
