What this usually means
Most of the time on a EverChill refrigerator this comes down to one of two findings: the door or the cabinet is out of alignment, or the gasket has taken a set, torn or lost its magnet. The gasket is the cheapest part on the machine and the one that decides how hard everything else has to work, so a door complaint is worth taking seriously even when the cabinet is still cold.
What the owner actually sees
- Condensation or frost around the door frame or on the gasket itself — Warm air meeting cold metal at the point where the seal has stopped touching.
- It cools on shore power and struggles on battery, or after a day of travel — The supply and the vibration are unique to an RV installation and they produce faults a domestic cabinet never sees.
- NEAR MISS — water pooling inside the cabinet floor with a good seal — That is a blocked defrost drain and belongs on the water-leak page.
Causes, most likely first
- The door or the cabinet is out of alignment — Ranked first on a EverChill refrigerator because a cabinet that is bolted into a moving vehicle loses screws, shifts on its mounts and ends up off level in a way no kitchen appliance does. A cabinet leaning forward, a dropped hinge or a door that has sagged under the weight of a full door bin will hold the seal off the frame on one side.
- The gasket has taken a set, torn or lost its magnet — Second here: the travel latch and the gasket take road shock, and a door that seals in the driveway may not seal after a rough day of towing.
- Something inside is holding the door open — A shelf pushed too far back, a bottle in a door bin, a drawer not fully home; each of them keeps the seal a fraction off its frame all day.

- First: Stand back and look at the gap along the closed door — it should be even from top to bottom on both sides. — It sits first because a cabinet that is bolted into a moving vehicle loses screws, shifts on its mounts and ends up off level in a way no kitchen appliance does.
- Second: Close the door on a slip of paper at eight points around the frame. — Next, and it needs no tool.
- Third: Close the door slowly and watch where it stops. — Only once the checks above are clean.

Call a technician when the paper test still fails after cleaning and levelling, when the door has visibly dropped, or when a replacement gasket has not fixed a seal that keeps failing in the same place — that pattern is a hinge or a cabinet fault rather than a rubber one. Call sooner if the cabinet has also started running continuously, because the door has already begun costing you the compressor.
