What a control fault usually means on an Electrolux
On an Electrolux dishwasher, keys that ignore you or a machine that seems to press its own buttons is usually the capacitive touch panel rather than the main board. These panels sense a touch through glass, so moisture, grease or heat at the console changes what they read. Cleaning the panel and power-cycling it dry fixes a large share of these calls. The door latch is the next suspect; the board is last.
What you are seeing
- Keys respond unevenly, or need a firmer and longer touch than they used to.
- The machine registers presses nobody made, or changes cycle on its own.
- The console lights but no cycle will start.
- The machine reports the door open with the door plainly shut.
- Not this fault: The cycle runs and leaves water in the tub - that is a drainage fault.

Safety
Switch off the dishwasher breaker before removing the toe kick or the door panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. These machines are commonly hard-wired, so the console does not isolate them. Never spray cleaner directly onto a touch console; liquid tracks behind the glass. Never bypass the door latch switch to force a cycle with the door open.
When this becomes a service call
Phantom presses continue with the panel clean, dry and power-cycled. Keys stay dead after the lock is cleared and the door is confirmed closed. The fault comes and goes when the machine is nudged, pointing at a connection. You smell hot plastic or see discolouration at the console - kill the breaker and stop.
