Supply quality before the board
Controls on a vehicle appliance see voltage that varies, humidity that is high, and vibration that is constant. A control complaint on a Dometic machine is therefore far more often about the supply or a connector than about a failed board.
What you are seeing
- The display resets or blanks during a cycle.
- Buttons respond intermittently.
- The machine changes programme or restarts on its own.
- A display fault appears only on generator power.
- The panel behaves badly after a journey.
- Not this fault: A machine that is completely dead is a start fault - read that page.
- Not this fault: A cycle that stops with a hot machine is a thermal trip.
Most likely causes, in Dometic order
- Supply voltage dipping or the source transitioning — Why ranked: First on this equipment. A control that resets when the generator picks up load has told you exactly what happened.
- Connector loosened by travel vibration — Why ranked: Second: connectors back out over miles, and the fault is intermittent with no pattern in the buttons.
- Moisture behind the panel in a humid cabin — Why ranked: Third. Vehicles and boats are humid, and liquid behind a membrane gives weather-linked faults.

What to check, in order
- Note whether the fault happens on one power source and not another. — Because: Source-linked faults are supply quality rather than the control, and that is the leading cause here.
- Ask whether the fault started after a journey. — Because: Travel-linked timing points at a connector rather than at the board.
- Note whether the same buttons always fail or the fault wanders. — Because: A fixed set is a worn panel; a wandering fault is a connector or moisture.
- Power the machine down fully, restore it, and see whether the fault returns. — Because: A fault that survives a full power cycle is not a transient.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never spray cleaner at a control panel; in a humid cabin liquid behind a membrane makes an intermittent fault permanent. Do not run a machine that starts or changes programme on its own. Never bridge or bypass a control to force a cycle. Let a damp panel dry fully before restoring power.

The fault persists on a stable shore power supply. The machine starts or changes programme on its own. Buttons are dead in a fixed pattern. There is visible moisture damage behind the panel.
