- Cold water arriving at the machine — Fourth on the list, and the least likely: Where the supply comes from a long run of cold pipe, or from a cold feed, the machine starts far below the temperature the cycle assumes. A dealer-channel unit is often connected to whatever tap, drain, vent or outlet the new room already had, which is where the fault comes from.
What to check first, second, third
- Feel a plate at the end of a hot programme — Cold dishes after a hot cycle, repeatably, is a heating fault and nothing else produces it. First, because a long-service unit reports its consumables before it reports anything else, and this check costs nothing.
- Look at the sump area for a chalky or greasy coating — A visible crust plus hard water plus no descaling in years is usually the whole story.
