What a leak means on the CCRR line
Do not mop and wait. Water under a refrigerator gets into flooring and into the compartment at the back where electrical parts live, so a leak is worth tracing promptly even though the cause is usually cheap. On these cabinets that cause is a blocked defrost drain more often than everything else combined. The CCRR line covers twelve model numbers, all listed in the table below. Check the rating plate inside the door before you order a part, because the family name alone will not get you the right one.
What you actually observe
- Water under the crisper or along the cabinet floor — The signature of a blocked defrost drain. The water has nowhere to go and finds the lowest point inside.
- Puddle on the floor at the front — Usually the same fault after the water has overflowed the liner, especially if the cabinet leans forward.
- Water at the back underneath the unit — The drip tray, a cracked tray, or a connection on a plumbed model.
- Ice sheet across the bottom of the compartment — A drain that is frozen rather than blocked. The same fix, done with the unit off.
- NEAR MISS — condensation on the outside of the door — Humid room and a cold panel. Not a leak, though it can point at a seal that is losing the argument.
Where the water usually comes from
- Inside the cabinet: the drain — First. Water under the crisper, an ice sheet on the liner floor, or containers sitting in water all name the same fault.
- On the floor at the front: the drain, overflowing — Second, and the same cause one stage later. Levelling matters here — a cabinet tipped forward sends the overflow to the front lip.
- At the back: the tray or a connection — Third. With the unit unplugged and pulled out, a torch finds it in a minute.
- Everywhere, in humid weather: condensation — Last as a mechanical cause and common as a complaint, particularly where a gasket has hardened.
Check in this order, and why that order
- Time it against the defrost cycle — Water every few hours is defrost water. Water that never stops on a plumbed model is a supply connection and needs the shut-off closed.
- Look behind before you blame the drain — With the unit unplugged and pulled out, a torch finds a cracked or displaced tray in under a minute.
- Paper-test the gasket at the corners — Hinge corners harden first, and that is where the humid air that becomes condensation gets in.
- If it refreezes, stop and call — A drain that ices again within days points at the defrost system rather than at debris, and that is a technician diagnosis.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Water on the floor and electrical parts at the back of the cabinet are a bad combination, so unplug the unit before mopping underneath or pulling it out. Do not clear a frozen drain with a metal wire or a heat gun: the drain tube is soft plastic and a punctured tube leaks permanently and invisibly.

Where the owner line is on these models
Call when the drain has been cleared properly and the water comes back, when the tray is cracked, when a plumbed connection weeps, or when the water has been running long enough to reach flooring or insulation. Those are the cases where the cheap fix has already been tried and what remains — the defrost heater, its control, or a supply fitting — is either behind a panel on a live appliance or a plumbing repair that should be done properly rather than hopefully. A technician will ask which of the twelve CCRR models you have before they set off, and the rating plate inside the cabinet is where that number lives.
