The short answer
On the Caf CDP family a leak at the front of the machine is usually the door — gasket, alignment or over-sudsing — while water that appears under the cabinet is a fitting, a hose or the sump. One model tag covers this family in the matrix below, which keeps parts ordering simple and leaves the whole of the diagnosis to the symptom. The two groups need completely different work, so establishing which one you have is the whole of the first step.
What you can observe on these models
- Water only on heavy or long cycles — A leak that needs heat and pressure to appear is usually a sump seal or a hose clamp rather than the door.
- Damp cabinet sides or a swollen kick panel — Water is leaving the machine low down and running along the floor under the cabinet, which hides the source.
- Rust or a water stain under the toe kick — An old, slow leak. The stain shows where the water lands, not always where it starts.
- A leak that appears during the fill only — That is the inlet side: the fill hose connection, the inlet valve body or the fitting at the shutoff.
- NEAR MISS — water at the sink base rather than the machine — A shared supply or waste connection under the sink leaks in the same room and is not an appliance fault.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Supply-side fitting, fill hose or inlet valve — Ranked first because closing the shutoff stops it immediately and confirms the diagnosis at the same time.
- Sump seal, pump housing or hose clamps — Second: heat and pressure open a marginal seal, which is why these leaks show on long cycles and not on short ones.
- Door gasket and its seating — Third because the symptom location already argues against it when the floor is wet at the sides.
- Detergent foam escaping the vent or the seal — Fourth: check what went in the dispenser before condemning any part, particularly after a change of product.
- Levelling and floor slope — Last, and corrected with a level and the feet.
Check in this order, and why
- Close the hot water shutoff under the sink — If the leak stops or slows immediately, it is supply-side and the machine can stay where it is until it is fixed.
- Check the door alignment against the cabinet front — A door proud at one corner loads the gasket unevenly and leaks there and nowhere else.
- Watch a short cycle with the toe kick removed — With the power on this is a look-only step: find the drip path before anything is dismantled.
- Level the machine in both directions — Do this last. It will not fix a real leak, but it stops a small one from being routed onto the floor.

Safety
Kill the power and close the supply before any fitting is disturbed — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. The fill line stays pressurised until it is bled, so open it into a towel and expect the residue in the hose to be hot after a recent cycle.

When to call a technician
Call when a new gasket does not fix a door leak, which usually means hinge or door-panel alignment rather than the seal itself. Call urgently if the breaker has tripped during the leak, if flooring is lifting, or if the water appears during the fill — all three are faults that grow with every cycle rather than staying still.
