The short answer
A Bull ice maker fails in a pattern: water arrives or it does not, and the mould harvests or it does not. The matrix below lists two model tags that differ only in their trailing revision characters, so a part that suits one usually suits its neighbours, and the tag still decides. Settling which half is broken takes one look into the mould and costs nothing, and it is the step the brand-generic article cannot put in the right order for a specific platform.
What you can observe on these models
- The bin is empty and the mould is dry — No water is arriving. Everything upstream — arm position, shutoff, filter, fill tube, valve — comes before any thought of the module.
- Cubes are small, hollow or crescent-shaped — Water is arriving but not enough of it. That is flow: a restricted filter, a partly closed shutoff or low supply pressure.
- The mould holds water that never releases — The fill worked and the harvest did not. Look at freezer temperature and at the module, in that order.
- NEAR MISS — no ice and no cooling either — If the freezer is not holding temperature, the ice maker is a symptom. Work the cooling page first; the ice returns when the cold does.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Water supply restricted — shutoff, filter or line pressure — Ranked first because it accounts for most of the calls on these models and because every part of it is checkable without tools: the valve behind the unit, the cartridge date and the dispenser flow.
- Fill tube frozen or misaligned — Second because it is visible from the bin opening and is cleared with warm air rather than with parts.
- Freezer temperature too warm to trigger harvest — Third: the module waits for the mould to reach its release point, so a freezer sitting above the safe range makes cycles longer and eventually stops them.
- Water inlet valve solenoid or screen — Fourth, and a real part replacement rather than an adjustment, which is why it sits below the free checks.
Check in this order, and why
- Read the freezer temperature against 0 °F (−18 °C) — Harvest waits on the mould reaching its release point, so a warm freezer stalls a perfectly good ice maker.
- Date the water filter — A cartridge past its life, or an aftermarket one that does not seat in this head, drops flow before it drops taste.
- Trace the supply line from the shutoff to the unit — Look for a crushed line behind the cabinet and a valve that is only part open; both are common after a move.

Safety
Unplug the refrigerator or switch off its breaker before reaching behind the ice maker or removing a panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Do not chip a frozen fill tube or a bin sheet with a screwdriver: the tube deforms and the evaporator tubing behind it punctures easily. Warm air at a distance is the only safe way to clear ice on the Bull refrigerator line.

When to call a technician
On the Bull refrigerator line the owner side covers everything upstream of the module: the arm, the shutoff, the filter, the line, the fill tube and the bin. Call when water reaches the mould, the freezer is at temperature, and it still will not harvest — that is a module or thermostat fault and it needs a meter to condemn honestly. Call sooner if the supply line is weeping at a fitting, since a slow drip behind a cabinet does damage long before anyone sees it.
