The short answer
On a Brevino countertop cooler a puddle is usually condensate that missed its channel because the cabinet is not level, or a drain point blocked with dust. There is no plumbing on this cabinet, so nothing can leak from a supply. Levelling is the whole fix surprisingly often.
What you observe
- Water pooling inside the base of the cabinet — The drain point is blocked and the condensate cannot leave.
- A damp ring on the worktop behind or under the unit — The condensate is leaving but missing its collection point.
- Water running down the inside of the door — Condensation from humid air rather than a leak.
- Noticeably more water in summer — Humidity, which drives everything here.
- NEAR MISS - a few drops at the back on a humid day — Normal for a cooler in this class.
Causes, most likely first on this brand
- A cabinet that is not level — First on a countertop unit. Worktops slope, feet compress unevenly, and a cabinet leaning forward sends its condensate out under the door rather than into the channel.
- A blocked drain point — Second. The opening is small and dust, cork crumbs and spilled wine close it quickly, after which the water simply collects inside.
- A door that does not seal or self-close — Third, and the multiplier behind both. More humid air in means more condensate than a system this small can move.
- A collection tray that has come adrift — Fourth. Small trays clip on and are knocked off when the unit is cleaned or moved.
- A cracked liner or a failed plate seal — Last, and rare. On a unit this size it is a replacement decision rather than a repair.
Check in this order, and why
- Check the cabinet is level, front to back and side to side — The likeliest cause and free to correct.
- Look for the drain point at the base of the cold plate — Dust or ice in it is the answer.
- Watch the door close from half open — A door standing open feeds every cause here.
- Look behind for a tray that has come adrift — Visible in a moment once the unit is pulled forward.

- Dry everything and watch for a day — How fast the water returns separates a levelling problem from a blocked drain.

Safety
Unplug the cooler before cleaning inside it or moving it - a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and water on a worktop beside a live appliance deserves respect. Never clear a drain point with wire; the cold plate behind it punctures easily and that ends the unit. Keep the socket and any adapter away from where the water collects, and dry the worktop properly, because a damp ring will mark and swell a laminate surface.
When to call a technician
Call, or plan a replacement, when the cabinet is level, the drain is clear, the door seals and water still appears. On a countertop cooler a liner or plate fault costs more to put right than the unit is worth. Deal with it quickly all the same, because standing water on a worktop damages the surface long before it damages the appliance.
