The short answer
If the panel is dark, the fault is in the supply rather than the washer. If it lights and nothing happens, the door latch and the taps are the causes to work through. A control board is the least likely of the five below and the only one that is not an owner check.
What you observe
- The display is completely dark — Nothing lights when the power button is pressed.
- Lights come on, a cycle is selected, nothing happens — No lock click, no fill, no drum movement.
- The lock clicks, it tries, then stops and unlocks — It attempted the cycle and failed a condition.
- It starts only if you hold the door shut — A latch that is barely confirming.
- NEAR MISS - it starts but sits quiet before filling — Many programmes weigh the load first. Not a failure.
Causes, most likely first on this brand
- No power at the outlet — First when the panel is dark. A closet circuit shared with a dryer or a light trips for reasons that have nothing to do with the washer.
- A door latch that will not confirm — First when the panel is lit. The machine tests the latch before committing, and a tight closet frame or a worn catch means it never gets confirmation.
- Closed or restricted taps — Third. A machine that cannot fill starts and then abandons the cycle, and taps closed for other work are rarely reopened.
- A control lock or delay start left set — Fourth, and free to rule out. Both look exactly like a dead machine from the panel.
- A control board or wiring fault — Last. Least likely, not an owner check, and imitated by everything above it.
Check in this order, and why
- Decide whether the panel lights at all — That question splits the list in half.
- Plug something else into the same outlet — Rules the supply in or out in a minute.
- Press the door firmly shut and start again — If it now runs, the latch is the fault.
- Open both taps fully and watch for a fill — A machine that starts filling was never broken.

- Test the outlet with another appliance — A lamp or a charger is enough. Reset the breaker once, and once only.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the washer before removing any panel or unscrewing a fill hose at the machine end - a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and the hoses stay under mains pressure until the taps are closed. Reset a tripped breaker once; if it trips again with the washer plugged in, leave it off. Never tape or wedge the door lock, because that interlock keeps the door shut during a high-speed spin.
When to call a technician
Call when the outlet is proven good and the panel is still dark, or when the panel lights and the machine refuses with the door held firmly shut and both taps open. Call without further testing if it trips the breaker the moment it is plugged in, or if you smell hot insulation, because repeated resets make a short circuit worse rather than better.
