The short answer
A Breda condenser dryer that tumbles warm without drying is nearly always restricted rather than cold. Rinse the condenser block and wash the filter before suspecting anything electrical. Overloading and a cold room come next; the element and thermal cut-out come last and are not owner work.
What you observe
- The load comes out warm and still wet — Heat is present but moisture is not leaving the load.
- The condensate tank fills very little after a long cycle — Little water condensed means little moisture removed.
- The room becomes humid while the machine runs — Moisture escaping the machine rather than being condensed.
- It dries a half load acceptably and a full one not at all — A restriction with just enough margin for a small load.
- NEAR MISS - the air is cold from the first minute — No heat at all is a different fault and belongs on the electrical page.
Causes, most likely first on this brand
- A clogged condenser block — First on a ventless machine. Lint mats into the fins where the air is cooled; once it cannot pass, the machine cannot condense, so the moisture stays in the load.
- A lint filter with a softener film — Second. The filter can look perfectly clear and still be sealed by a film that only shows when water beads on it instead of passing through.
- Overloading for the drum size — Third, and self-inflicted. A full-size washer load moved into a compact drum cannot tumble, and clothes that cannot tumble cannot shed moisture at any heat.
- A cold or unventilated room — Fourth, and specific to condenser machines. They reject heat into the room and draw their cooling from it, so a cold closet with the door shut makes every cycle far longer.
- An element, thermostat or thermal cut-out fault — Last. Here a cut-out usually opens because airflow was poor, so replacing it without clearing the restriction repeats the failure.
Check in this order, and why
- Pull out the condenser block and look through it — Light should pass between the fins. It is the likeliest cause.
- Wash the filter and watch whether water passes or beads — Beading means a film, and a film means no airflow.
- Re-run the same wash at half the load — If half a load dries, the load was the fault.
- Open the closet door and repeat the cycle — A condenser dryer needs room air to work with.

- Remove and rinse the condenser block — Rinse it through until the water runs clear, then let it drain before refitting.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the dryer before removing the condenser block or any panel - a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Let the machine cool first, because the condenser fins and drum stay hot after a cycle. Never run the machine with the filter or condenser removed. If you smell scorching or see browning near the filter housing, stop using the dryer: a restriction has already overheated something.
When to call a technician
Call when the condenser and filter are clean, the tank is empty, the load is sensible, the room has air and the clothes are still wet. That points at the element, a thermostat or a thermal cut-out, all of which need a meter across live terminals. Ask for the part price first, because on a compact machine it can approach the price of a replacement.
