The NET family covers the nine cooktop model codes in the table below. The nine codes cover more than one build generation, so match your own code against the table.
What goes wrong on these models, and where each one is covered
- One element or burner will not heat or will not light — Note whether it is always the same position: one dead position points at that element, its switch or its igniter, several at once at the supply or the control.
- A gas burner clicks and will not light, or keeps clicking after it lights — Usually a wet, dirty or misaligned burner cap. Dry the area and seat the cap squarely; never hold a flame to it to help it along.
- The surface heats but will not hold a low setting — On electric or induction this is the control cycling; on gas it is the burner ports or the valve. Either way it is a fault, not a habit.
- The touch controls do not respond, or a lock symbol is showing — Control lock, a wet panel, or a failing touch board. Dry the glass completely and clear any lock before concluding anything.
The problem classes, in the order they bring these units to a technician
- A burner or element that will not heat or will not light — First: it takes a cooktop out of service most often, and one dead position points somewhere very different from several.
- Ignition and spark faults on a gas burner — Second: ignition faults leave a burner that will not light or will not stop clicking — usually a cap and a clean.
- Touch controls that do not respond — Third: unresponsive controls are usually a wet panel or an engaged lock, which is why they rank above the surface.
- A damaged glass surface — Fourth and least common — but a cracked surface takes the appliance out of service immediately, whatever its rank.

Before anything is opened
Safety
Switch off the breaker, and close the gas shut-off valve on a gas model, before anything is opened; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A cracked glass surface takes the appliance out of service immediately.
What is an owner job on these models, and what is not
The owner side of a cooktop is short and it stops at the glass. Cleaning burner caps and ports, seating them squarely, drying a touch panel, clearing a control lock and checking the breaker are reasonable.
