What this machine is like to own
A refrigerator is the one appliance in the house that never switches off, so almost everything that goes wrong with it is a slow degradation rather than a sudden failure. This is a portable compressor cooler that runs from a vehicle or battery outlet as well as from a wall adapter, and it has a lid instead of a hinged door, a battery-protection cut-out ahead of the compressor, and a supply that can sag while the vehicle is parked. Two complaints dominate: a cabinet that is no longer holding temperature, and water arriving where it should not. Most of what follows is caused by heat that cannot leave the cabinet or humidity that should never have entered it, which is why cleaning and sealing outrank component failure on almost every list here.
Problem classes in order
- Note: No measured component share is available for this brand and appliance, so this order is not a rate.
Where to start, whatever the symptom
- read a thermometer in each compartment before you touch anything, because half the list below forks on that one number
- pull the base grille and look at the condenser, since a choked coil imitates several different faults at once
- check the door seals with a sheet of paper, because a leaking seal shows up as constant running long before it shows up as warm food
Owner fix or service call
Owner-fixable, in the ordinary case: noise or vibration; door, latch or seal problems; not cooling, or cooling unevenly. Each of those comes down to cleaning, levelling, loading or a setting. Not owner-fixable: will not start at all; controls, display or an error code. Call a technician when the cabinet will not hold the safe holding temperature after the condenser is clean and the seals grip; when the compressor clicks repeatedly without starting; when the same error code returns immediately after every reset; when frost returns within days of a full defrost. Sold direct to the owner rather than through a dealer service network, so the practical repair path is the supplier parts channel and the data plate, not a local brand technician. Noise or vibration Door, latch or seal problems Not cooling, or cooling unevenly Water leaking inside or onto the floor Frost, or no ice from the ice maker Will not start at all Controls, display or an error code the cabinet will not hold the safe holding temperature after the condenser is clean and the seals grip the compressor clicks repeatedly without starting the same error code returns immediately after every reset frost returns within days of a full defrost
Safety before you start
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A refrigerator is heavy and top-heavy on its castors. Never work with your hands behind a cabinet that is not chocked, and never tip one alone. The sealed refrigerant circuit is not owner-serviceable. Do not cut, bend or braze any tube, and do not attempt to add refrigerant.
What this page does not cover
This page is generalized across every refrigerator sold under the BODEGA name. It does not cover a specific family, a specific model or a specific serial range, and it carries no part number for your unit. The data plate inside the lid or on the base carries the model and the supply rating; quote it before ordering anything. The per-problem pages below cover narrower scopes than this one, and each takes precedence over anything written here.
