The short answer for these models
A machine that stops partway is nearly always waiting for a condition it cannot meet, and it waits in silence. Water that has not arrived, a tub that has not emptied and a load it cannot balance are the three conditions. Where in the cycle it stops tells you which. Where this departs from the brand-level page is the ranking. A tap-adapter installation gives up its pressure and its drain height the moment the adapter slips, so a fault that looks electrical on a plumbed machine is usually mechanical on a portable one, so on a MAS unit the supply and adapter checks lead.
What you actually see
- Before the list: which of the MAS forms is in front of you — See where the water comes from. On a portable installation two failure points sit outside the machine and imitate faults inside it.
- It hangs at the very start with little or no water — A fill problem. The machine will wait indefinitely rather than run a dry wash.
- It tries to spin, stops, and tries again — Repeated attempts are a load problem rather than a mechanical one, and they end with a redistributed load.
- The cycle time jumps up or stalls on the display — The clock climbs instead of falling, which is a machine extending a step while it waits.
- It finishes but the load is still soaking wet — A wet load at the end is a failed spin dressed up as a completed cycle.
- NEAR MISS — it completes but water is left in the tub — Read the drainage page. The cycle ran; the pump-out did not.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- The load will not balance — A single heavy item, or a load collected on one side, makes the machine retry and eventually stop rather than spin dangerously. On a MAS unit this rises to the top of the order, because the identification step above changes what it proves — so the supply and adapter checks answer more in five minutes than the rest of the list answers in an hour.
- The control, the timer or a sensor — Everything above is likelier and cheaper, so this one is arrived at rather than suspected.
The order the checks belong in
- First — note exactly where it stops — Run one cycle and watch it. A stop you have timed is worth more than any guess.
- Second — redistribute the load and restart on a spin — Leave this until you know where the stop is, because it only answers one of the three groups. On these models this is the step the construction changes: read the result against the form you identified first, because the same finding means different things on the two.
Before you open anything
Safety
Cut the power first; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Leave the door lock and its wiring exactly as found: it is holding a drum that may still be turning or a tub that may still be full. Drain the machine through its filter hose before anything else is opened.
Where the owner job ends
Call once supply, drainage and balance have all been ruled out and the machine still stops, because a wandering stop on a healthy water path points at a lock, a sensor or the control. Say where in the cycle it halts, because that is the fact that decides which part the technician brings.
